Coppard Plant Hire
Coppard Plant Hire are independent, family owned business that had small beginnings in 1972. Dave and Tina Coppard started with an excavator, Land Rover, compressor and a few small tools. Dave did all the estimating, digger driving and tarmacking while Tina ran the office.
It didn’t take long before the business came flooding in, and they needed larger premises.
Coppard jobs now range from £150 up to £2 million. Over the years, Dave has been steadily employing more and more staff.
Our Contracts Managers, Brendan Coppard & Quin Coppard, head contracts and civil engineering with a fully experienced team to carry out all surfacing and civil engineering works, many of which have been trained within the company since leaving school, some working within the company over 45 years, which now incorporates R Marchant & Sons and Sturgeon’s Civil Engineering.
Our excavator fleet now includes more than 300 excavators from the Yanmar SV05 (which will fit through your front door) to the Case CX135 35-ton machine. Coppard also has one of the country’s largest fleet of tracked dumpers, ranging from 250kg to 22 tonnes. All are available for self-drive or operated.
Coppard Plant Hire Ltd has the country’s most diverse and comprehensive plant holding of any plant hire company. If you cannot see what you require on our website, don’t hesitate to get in touch with one of our plant hire managers as we are introducing new equipment all the time.
In 1995 Coppard bought George Sands, a company in Godstone which then specialised in aggregate supply but has now expanded to include plant hire. In 2009 we acquired our Brighton depot, formerly known as Re Evan Hire. Since then, we expanded further by acquiring our branch in Melksham, Wiltshire, which was previously Roy Frances Plant Hire Ltd and in 2022, we continued our growth by establishing our Reading branch, formerly known as Winnersh Plant Hire Ltd.
Today, Coppard Plant Hire is a well-respected company in the industry based at five locations.
We established concrete batching plants in Crowborough and Godstone. Leveraging cutting-edge computerized technology, this equipment seamlessly integrates with our fleet of Volvo FMX / Schwing Concrete drum mixers. It serves as an efficient facility for swift ad-hoc collections. Additionally, we maintain our dedication to Volumetric vehicles, operating from depots in both Crowborough and Godstone. This approach allows us to optimize scheduling by sourcing raw materials from either area throughout the day, based on customer locations.
Our key to our success has been our unyielding commitment to quality of service and the specialisation of our plant. Equally servicing private individuals, small builders, landscapers, and large multi-nationals.
