Tracked carriers get to the lift when wheeled machines cannot.

Soft ground, steep banks, shingle beaches, boggy fields, remote sites with no road access — these are the conditions where wheeled cranes and lorry-mounted equipment cannot operate. Tracked carriers solve the access problem. They spread load across a wide track footprint and move on ground that would stop a wheeled machine dead. Coppard runs one of the most comprehensive tracked carrier fleets in the South East.

From compact 750mm-wide platforms for internal moves and tight-access sites, through to 30-tonne capacity crane carriers for major lifts on soft ground — the right machine depends on the load, the ground conditions and the reach required. Call 01892 662 777 to discuss your job.

Tracked Crane Carriers -- Morooka Fleet with Palfinger Cranes

Coppard operates a fleet of Morooka rubber-tracked carriers fitted with Palfinger knuckle-boom cranes. These are the machines for lifting in locations where ground pressure, access width or terrain make wheeled cranes impractical.

The Morooka rubber tracks spread machine weight across a wide contact area -- significantly lower ground pressure than a wheeled crane or lorry of equivalent capacity. On waterlogged fields, soft riverbanks, shingle beaches and boggy woodland, this is the difference between getting the job done and not being able to get to the site at all.

All crane carriers are operated hire -- a qualified Coppard operator runs the machine and crane. Pricing is POA based on job scope, location and duration. Call 01892 662 777.

DTC02 -- 30-Tonne Heavy-Lift Tracked Platform

The DTC02 is a large tracked carrier platform for moving heavy, indivisible loads across ground where road transport cannot go. No crane fitted — this is a load-carrying platform that moves loads from A to B on difficult terrain.

Typical jobs for the DTC02 include moving electrical transformers and switchgear across fields and unmade tracks, relocating heavy plant and machinery on sites without road access, and carrying loads across ground that would not support a lorry or low loader. Call the yard with the load weight, dimensions and site conditions.

Compact Track Carriers -- 1200 Pro and 2500 Pro

The compact track carriers are narrower, lighter machines for jobs where access is the primary constraint. They fit through standard gates, move inside buildings and work on ground too soft for wheeled machines.

The 1200 Pro at 750mm width passes through a standard single door or gate — it is the machine for moving materials inside buildings, through garden access, across lawns without ruts and on any surface where a wheeled machine would cause damage or get stuck.

Both compact carriers are available on self-drive hire. Pricing from £200/day for the 1200 Pro and £275/day for the 2500 Pro. Call the yard to confirm availability.

We regularly supply tracked carrier hire to customers across Tunbridge Wells, Uckfield, East Grinstead, Heathfield, Wadhurst, Forest Row and Tonbridge. Same-week delivery available from our Crowborough depot across East Sussex and Kent.

Tracked Carrier Applications -- What These Machines Are Hired For

Coppard’s tracked carriers have worked on a wide range of jobs across East Sussex and Kent. The common thread is always access — either the ground will not support wheeled equipment, or the site cannot be reached by road.

If your job involves lifting or moving loads on ground that wheeled equipment cannot access, call 01892 662 777. Describe the load, the ground conditions and the access constraints. We will confirm which machine in the fleet suits the job and provide a POA.

Frequently Asked Questions — Tracked Carrier Hire in Crowborough and East Sussex

What is the difference between a tracked carrier and a crane carrier?

A tracked carrier is a rubber-tracked platform for moving loads across difficult ground — it carries material from A to B. A tracked crane carrier (like the Morooka units in our fleet) is a rubber-tracked machine with a knuckle-boom crane fitted — it moves to the lift location and then lifts. Coppard has both: compact flat-deck carriers for material movement, and Morooka carriers with Palfinger cranes for lifting operations on soft or difficult ground.

A tracked carrier is often the better choice where the ground is soft, muddy, uneven or easily damaged, as its tracks spread the machine’s weight over a wider area and provide better traction than standard wheels. It can be particularly useful for moving soil, aggregate and materials across gardens, woodland, slopes and restricted sites where a wheeled dumper may struggle or leave deep ruts. Tell Coppard’s Crowborough team what needs moving, the payload required, the access width and the condition of the ground, and they can recommend a tracked carrier suited to the site.

Yes. The Morooka crane carriers (DT41, MST 2300, DTC01) are operated hire — a qualified Coppard operator runs the machine and crane. The crane operators hold the relevant CPCS tickets and are experienced in lifting on difficult ground. The compact track carriers (1200 Pro, 2500 Pro) can be self-drive hired if you have the experience to operate them.

Tracked carriers are designed for ground conditions where wheeled machines cannot operate. Rubber tracks spread machine weight over a large contact area, significantly reducing ground pressure. They work on soft clay, waterlogged fields, shingle beaches, boggy woodland and rough unmade tracks. For extremely soft ground (peat bogs, saturated clay), call the yard — we can advise whether additional ground protection measures are needed.

Yes. Tracked carriers are transported to site on a low loader. We plan the delivery route carefully — give us the site postcode and any access restrictions when you call. Our drivers know the lanes and access routes across East Sussex and Kent. For very remote sites, we may need to agree a roadside drop point and travel to site on tracks.
