Like many successful businesses, Coppard Plant Hire had small beginnings in 1972 Dave and Tina Coppard started with just an excavator, Land Rover, compressor and a few other bits and pieces. Dave carried out all the estimating, digger driving and tarmacing while Tina ran the office. 

It didn't take long before the business came flooding in and they needed larger premises. Coppards jobs now range from £150 up to £2 million. Over the years, Dave has been steadily employing more and more staff, including Richard Vincent Plant Manager at Crowborough, Joby Coppard Plant Manager at Godstone, and other key staff include the workshop manager at Crowborough Chris Prince, Workshop Manager at Godstone Gordon Fuller.

Contracts Managers Brendan Coppard & David Hopkins head contracting and civil engineering with a fully experienced team to carry out all surfacing and civil engineering works many of which have been trained within the company since leaving school some working within the company in excess of 25 years.

Our excavator fleet is now more than a hundred ranging from the Kubota 008-3 (which will fit through your front door) to the Hitachi EX200 20 ton machine. Coppard also have the largest fleet of tracked dumpers in the country which range from 250kg to 22 tonnes. All are available for self-drive or operated.

In 1995 Coppard bought George Sands, a company in Godstone which then specialised in aggregate supply but has now expanded to include plant hire and is run by Joby Coppard. Today, Coppard is a well respected company in the industry and now employs over 55 staff based at three locations.
